Well it’s three months until the Gold Coast Marathon and my training program has well and truly commenced – although I’m still coming back from the Christmas break which my waistline and weight tell me was overly enjoyed!! Oh well, if you can’t play up at Christmas time when can you?
I’ve booked in for a few races in the lead up to the GC Marathon as preparation for the race – there are quite a few and you can’t underestimate the importance of some race conditioning before the big day.
The races booked so far are:
Run for the Kids on April 1st 2012, sponsored by the Herald Sun and CityLink. The distance is 14.38km along roads that are normally not open to foot traffic. Ran it a few years ago and enjoyed it.

Puffing Billy – Race against the train on May 6th, 2012, which is a run to raise funds for the maintenance of Puffing Billy. The distance is 13.2km up and down (but mostly up) very steep and long hills. This will be my fifth Puffing Billy race – always a good day and limited to only 3,000 or so runners.

I’ll probably lock in for a few others along the way, but these will do for now. Good distances and hills are good for building strength … even though I hate them!
