Ready, Set….

Well the weekend of the Gold Coast Marathon is finally here.  Early morning flight tomorrow to pick up our Bibs, Timing Chips and Check out the Expo.  Diane and Stu are running the 5.7km on Saturday.  Kerry runs the half on Sunday and Rakesh, Sam and I are all in for the marathon on Sunday morning – starting a little later than the half.

I haven’t been running at all this week – it’s been a week of rest to try and give the calves every chance to improve in time for the race.

This week instead I have been in the gym on the cross trainer, bike and rowing machine plus plenty of weights and stretching.  Most mornings I have been wading in the icy cold pool (and it has been freezing this week) as well as massaging my calves twice a day and stretching 3-5 times a day…. I’m probably not at 100%, but a huge improvement on two weeks back.  Anyway, I question whether you can ever be 100%.

The article I mentioned last week appeared in the local newspaper… the link is below.

Fundraising is drawing to an end and I’m still getting pledges and support which is awesome.  Doesn’t look like we’ll make it to the goal we set at the start, but that’s ok.  It’s  result that I’m really pleased about and appreciative of – a large amount of money is going to a great cause – the Fight Dementia campaign.

Time to sign off now.  Need to finish packing and getting organised.

Next update from the Gold Coast.

My top 5 Running Songs from my Play list that are guaranteed to be loaded up for Sunday.

Harder To Breathe – by Maroon 5
I Wanna Be Sedated – by The Ramones
